Greg woke us at 5 am this morning to get up. We need our head torches on to get dressed and packed up as it was still dark. We had breakfast and then Greg told us it would be a 6 hour walk. It was sprinkling when we set off and quiet muddy on some parts of the Track.
Sheriff Aaron made a rule today that every time your drank from your bladder you had to sing a song and every time you drank out of your water bottle, it had to be with your left hand. It made for a funny time with lots of songs being belted out and lots of people being caught out not using their left hand!
We climbed the golden stairs up to the top of Imita Ridge where we had a break. We did 22 river crossings and lots of up hill climbing - which means tomorrow we will need to go down some very steep hills!
Our porters have been incredible saving all our falls, pushing and pulling us up hills and generally looking out for us - they are true angels.
We all arrived in Ioribaiwa Village just after 1 pm. Boy how things have changed on the track - there is a shower (a hose with cold water, but better than nothing) and even a few solar chargers for your phones - WOW!!
Some people had showers, Gracie went to church with the village ladies, Aaron and Jo played with the kids in the village and of course we all played UNO.
Dinner was served at 5 pm and tonight was a yummy pasta dish. After dinner we got to see the most beautiful sunset.
We went around the group and did our highs and lows for the day - exciting to see there weren't any lows. The high from Greg today was how connected our group is.
Then it was time for Ali, Troy and Em to tell us their stories. Tomorrow night it is Jo and Adam's turn.
Greg has let us know that tomorrow is 7 hours of walking and is a very hard day.
It is now 7 pm and some have gone to bed and others are back playing a few rounds of UNO.
As I lay in my tent writing this, I am listening to the locals playing the guitar and singing together - it is really great and they have awesome voices. They have carted the guitar along the track with them.
Lou is having a little trouble with her feet but generally everyone is going really well.
Until tomorrow,
